The Story
Activon Tulle: 100% Medical Grade Manuka Honey Viscose Mesh Dressing
Activon Tulle is a high-performance, non-adherent primary dressing infused with 100% Medical Grade Manuka Honey. Designed for the treatment of chronic and acute wounds, the knitted viscose mesh provides a low-profile interface that maintains a moist, bacteriostatic environment while allowing wound exudate to pass through to a secondary dressing. Ideal for debriding sloughy tissue and neutralizing wound odors at the source.
Unlike thick gels or pastes, the knitted viscose mesh provides a low-profile, highly conformable interface that mirrors the contours of the wound bed. This "tulle" design allows wound exudate to pass through into a secondary absorbent dressing, preventing maceration of the surrounding skin while keeping the honey in direct contact with the wound.
Key Features
-
Active Component: 100% Pure Medical Grade Manuka Honey (No additives)
-
Base Material: Knitted Viscose Mesh (Highly conformable)
-
Wound Environment: Creates a bacteriostatic, moist healing environment
-
Odor Control: Effectively eliminates wound odor via natural chemical reaction
-
Atraumatic Design: Non-adherent mesh reduces pain and tissue damage during removal
-
Indication: Sloughy wounds, pressure sores, diabetic ulcers, and infected wounds
Clinical & Healing Advantages
-
Natural Autolytic Debridement: The high sugar content of the Manuka honey creates an osmotic draw that softens and lifts slough and necrotic tissue without the need for sharp debridement.
-
Rapid Odor Neutralization: Manuka honey forces bacteria to metabolize sugar instead of protein, which prevents the production of malodorous sulfur compounds—providing immediate relief for patients with fungating or infected wounds.
-
Reduced Dressing-Change Trauma: The open-knit viscose mesh does not "grow into" the healing granulation tissue, allowing for easy, pain-free removal that preserves the newly formed skin cells.
-
Versatile Exudate Management: Can be used on lightly draining wounds as a standalone primary layer, or on heavily draining wounds as a contact layer beneath a secondary foam or super-absorbent dressing.
Application & Instructions
-
Placement: Apply directly to the wound bed; either side can be used. For larger areas, multiple dressings can be placed side-by-side.
-
Secondary Dressing: Requires an absorbent secondary dressing (e.g., foam, film, or pad) to secure it in place and manage bypassed exudate.
-
Frequency: Can be left in place for up to 7 days, though changes may be required more frequently depending on the levels of wound drainage.
Warranty
-
✔ Primis "Bioactive" Guarantee
We guarantee this product to be authentic Activon 100% Manuka Honey. If the sterile seal is compromised or the product is past its expiration date upon arrival, Primis Medical will provide a full refund or replacement.
Important Safety Information
-
Allergy Warning: Do not use this product if the patient has a known allergy to honey or bee venom.
-
Diabetes Note: While the honey is applied topically, patients with diabetes should monitor blood glucose levels during prolonged use, as a small amount of sugar may be absorbed.
-
Initial Sensation: Some patients may experience a brief, mild stinging or "drawing" sensation upon application due to the high osmotic action of the honey. This is normal and usually subsides quickly.
-
Professional Guidance: For deep, heavily infected, or non-healing wounds, always consult a healthcare professional or wound care specialist before use.
