The Cook Medical G48303 Frova Intubating Catheter is a specialized medical device designed to facilitate endotracheal intubation in patients where visualization of the glottis is inadequate. With a 14 French (Fr) diameter and a length of 70 cm, this catheter is suitable for use with endotracheal tubes having an inner diameter of 6 mm or larger. Its blunt, angled tip aids in proper placement beyond the vocal cords and into the trachea, minimizing trauma to internal structures.
The catheter features an optional stiffening cannula that adds rigidity to the proximal and middle sections, while the distal portion remains flexible. This design allows for controlled maneuverability during intubation procedures. Additionally, the lumen and distal sideports are designed to deliver oxygen when used with Rapi-Fit® adapters and an oxygen source. The centimeter marks on the catheter facilitate accurate alignment with endotracheal tubes. The removable Rapi-Fit adapters permit oxygen delivery if necessary.
Each unit includes the Frova intubating introducer, a stiffening cannula, and Rapi-Fit adapters (15 mm connector and Luer lock connector). The catheter is intended for single-use only and is supplied sterile to ensure patient safety.
