The Medtronic 6CFN Shiley™ Tracheostomy Tube is a cuffless, fenestrated tracheostomy tube designed for adult patients requiring long-term airway support. Its cuffless design allows for easier airflow through the upper airway, facilitating phonation and improving the patient's ability to speak. The fenestrated inner cannula aids in weaning and speaking by allowing air to pass through the upper airway, promoting natural voice production.
The tube features a soft-swivel opaque flange that moves with the patient, enhancing comfort and reducing irritation at the stoma site. The inner cannula is disposable and fenestrated, with an integral 15 mm twist-lock connector, permitting connection of ancillary equipment and ensuring secure placement. The translucent nature of the inner cannula allows for easy inspection of secretions and patency.
Designed for pulmonary hygiene, the 6CFN Shiley™ Tracheostomy Tube, when used in conjunction with the Decannulation Plug (DCP), directs breathing through the upper airway. This setup promotes natural breathing patterns and facilitates the transition towards decannulation. The tube is latex-free and individually packaged sterile for single-use, ensuring hygiene and reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
