The Shiley 60XLTCP is part of the XLT (extended-length) family of tracheostomy tubes designed to meet the needs of adult patients who have more challenging anatomies, such as increased distance from the skin to the tracheal wall, thick necks, or altered tissue contours. The “CP” in its code denotes Cuffed, Proximal extension — meaning that extra tube length is added on the portion above the stoma (proximal) so that the stoma site and tracheal entry are accommodated better.
